Flavonoids: Acts as Thermogetics for Losing Weight

Dr. Greger presented this very interesting video on how the right type of foods help with losing weight.

Yes it's true, you can start losing weight by starting to consume more foods that are rich with Flavonoids.

This study shows that most of the flavonoids are present in citrus, berries, red onions, green tea, beans, concorde grapes and cocoa which can effectively increase metabolism enabling you to lose weight.

Another tip that I'd like to mention before we proceed is to “WATCH out for the FRUITS that you consume”.

If you want to lose weight, you'll need to watch your sugar intake as well. And too much fruit in your drinks will cause problems and difficulties when losing weight.

So do you want to start losing weight?

I bet you do.

Once you've lost weight, it's actually harder to keep it off for good. Which is why mindset is key here.

I'm not going to talk about ‘miracle' products here, or talk about some outlandish claims on how to lose weight.

I believe in putting the right types of foods into my mouth, to help nourish my body with the right nutrients.

Did people actually lose weight when juicing?

Well, that depends.

If you are juicing, yet still eating a lot of unhealthy foods, you probably won't lose weight. Instead, you might even gain more pounds because of the extra calories you've consumed while juicing.

But there are numerous success stories on juicing.

The most famous of them all, as far as I know is the journey of Joe Cross, from the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.

He lost weight (significant amounts of it) while on a juicing spree for about 60 days.

How can you lose weight when Juicing?

The most obvious reason is that if you've replaced your meals with less calories, you'll create calorie deficit in your body resulting in weight loss. Another reason you'll lose weight when juicing is that you'll also consume more flavonoids which science shows to act as thermogetics inside your body.

When you start juicing and eating the right foods, your body and mind follows. You'll feel more alert and you'll have more energy and motivation to go to the gym. You'll have the energy to workout which helps further in allowing you to lose weight.

Don't forget that when your juicing and you're goal is to lose weight, add mostly veggies instead of fruits. Fruits can contain a lot of natural sugar which can spike your insulin levels, and affect in your weight loss goals.

1. Concorde “Quickee” Grapes

This is actually simple, I simply eat them or combine them 50 / 50 with either Kale or Spinach and this is part of my juicing for health journey. And that's one powerful juice drink. You just need to add a little bit of water since concorde grapes are already juicy and full of water.

2. Berry Power 

Berries are rich in flavonoids, and I love to combine it with Kale or any Green Leafy vegetable. I usually follow the 50/50 rule which means half fruits (for great taste) and half veggies (for more nutrients).

3.  Red Super Onions (Red Onions) Red Onions are not only used for cooking, but they can also be used for juice fasting recipes. Onions have strong odors  and taste. Make sure that you use it modestly when juicing.

4. Pink Grapefruit Mint

This is another delicious recipe that includes grapefruit, 2 California oranges (or any orange), a handful of mint leaves, and a romaine lettuce. Juice all ingredients, serve with ice, then enjoy!

5. Kalemon Recipe

A great recipe idea to help cleanse your system of toxins. Ingredients includes an apple, 2 handful leaves of kale, cilantro or parsley, 1 cucumber and 1 lemon. Juice them and enjoy!

6. Ginger Spinach Bonanza 

What some zest in your drinks? Try this recipe. Ingredients includes a medium sized green apple, a bunch of spinach, half lemon and some ginger roots. Juice all ingredients and enjoy!
