My Second Day of Juicing

They say that the first day is the hardest when starting a new habit. In this case, I'm trying out Juicing and eating healthy foods.

I have just “restarted” my 7-day juicing regimen because of the recent “splurge” on holiday treats (chocolates, sweets, pasta, and party meals). Since I have done juicing before, I can definitely feel the big difference on how my body feels.

Probably, this is the biggest reason, I love juicing as a way to consume healthy plant based foods, I can immediately feel the difference.

After just a few days of eating “holiday treats”, I've gained 11 lbs and felt extremely sluggish, sleepy and have extremely low on energy.

That's why I'm really excited for this second day of detox. I'm excited to help my “liver” do the detoxifying process, and boost my energy levels to my juicing days.

“An Ounce of Prevention is Better than a Pound of Cure”

I love this quote, and I believe this is what I need to do first when starting my 7 Day Juicing Plan.

First, I'll need to avoid drinking “hot chocolate drinks”, which have become a routine for me. I'll be limiting myself to “chamomile or green tea” if I needed some hot drinks.

Second, I'll also avoid drinking “coffee” and make it a permanent decision. I'll be giving away all my coffee and coffee maker in order to prevent any temptation of making my own drink. And yes, stay away from drive-in coffee shops.

Third, I'll eliminate all soda and artificial juice drinks. These are just drinks full of sugar so completely eliminating them will help me avoid any “sugar-rush” and “crashing” symptoms associated with high levels of sugar in the bloodstream.

So what would I be drinking then?

Just plain, clean, refreshing water. If possible, alkaline water. Sometimes, I'll squeeze some lemon or lime to help make it alkaline.

My entire family loves drinking water and even our 3 year old son, gulps liters of water everyday. I've made it a habit that we'll be doing this as a family.

How about Snacks?

During this 7 day Juicing plan, it's important not to mess up with your “detoxification” and “cleansing” period. Avoid any “white” food especially rice, bread, and pasta.

I know that they are delicious but I can't complete this “7 day juicing plan” if I continue eating them.

So my planned alternatives would be whole nuts like almonds and walnuts. I'll also want to munch carrot and celery sticks (without the thousand island dressing).

What I've previously encountered is that when I started juicing, I don't really feel hungry. Most of the time, I have enough energy to last for the entire day, by juicing at least 3x a day.

My Motivation

If added this as a last part on this article, but the truth is, I prioritize it.

I always think, visualize and internalize my reason and motivation for doing this. I've realized that if my purpose and reason is not strong enough, I would mostly likely fail (as I've done many times before).

My reasons are simple and may or may not be the same as yours. But whatever your reasons maybe, make sure you have a strong motivation to help you keep going when you feel tempted to go back to your old eating habits.
