It Finally Hit Me… Why Diets Seldom Work

Today, I'd like to share an epiphany...

A discovery that has helped me achieve a lot of my goals.

And why "most diets" are doomed to fail before you even start...

Before I share the answer with you, I'd like you to think about the latest "diet" or "weight loss guide" you've recently tried...

Most people fell into the trap of trying the diet for a few days (maybe even a few weeks).

Then after awhile, they'll go back to their old habits, and usually it's with interest (which means there's added weight to what they had previously).

Why?

It's because when you go on a "diet" the mind is thinking... I'm on "deprivation mode"...

I'm limited.

I'm restricted.

I'm deprived...

And that's why it's hard to "keep up with a diet"

That's why there's a lot of guilt and frustration... Which I believe would work against achieving your goals.

So, is there a better option? Fortunately, there is.

Instead of restriction... try a better alternative.

Try replacement or substitution.

I'd like to give an example to best illustrate my point.

Do you love spaghetti or pasta? We do.

It's something that has become a regular food in our family.

But if I want to lose weight, pasta is a big no because it's loaded with calories.

If I completely eliminate "spaghetti" in our family meals, I would really miss it and I would have a hard time adopting a healthier lifestyle.

So I did research if there's a healthier "replacement" for pasta...

And my research led me to "Zucchini noodles"

Zucchini noodles have less calories than real pasta. But I can still enjoy my "spaghetti meals" without packing too much calories.

(I can easily create Zucchini noodles with a simple kitchen tool called a "vegetable spiralizer", which turns a zucchini into "strings of noodles").

With a little bit of research and ingenuity...

There's probably tons of healthier substitutes for your favorite meals.

Instead of "burger patties" why not try "Portabello mushrooms"

Instead of soda drinks, why not try "green juice" or "green smoothies"

My point is that in order to make this a lifelong change in your lifestyle, it has to be something that you'll enjoy eating.

One of my favorite "food swaps" is consuming "plant-based milk".

So instead of drinking and consuming "dairy milk", we started consuming plant-based milk because it has less calories and without the "casein" from "cow's milk" which can cause a lot of digestive problems.

Did you know that you can create plant-based milk from almost every type of nut?

You can make

  • Almond milk
  • Soy Milk
  • Cashew Milk
  • Hazelnut Milk

and more...

You just need a kitchen accessory tool to do this.

Thanks for reading and I hope this "epiphany" has been useful to you as well.
